There is an advantage to being a community health system: We can move.
At Rochester Regional Health, innovation begins with the people closest to the work. Physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses and other team members see opportunities every day to improve care and make work better. We want those ideas, and we are creating more ways to act on them.
We think of this as little “i” innovation: practical problem-solving informed by experience. It can remove friction, give clinicians more time with patients or improve how care is delivered. Sometimes a small improvement can change how an entire team works.
We have seen what happens when we move early. Rochester Regional Health began using Moxi hospital robots three years ago, well before the technology became commonplace in healthcare. We have since expanded virtual care and introduced ambient clinical documentation, with a practical goal across these investments: give clinicians more time for patients and less administrative work.
For physicians and advanced practice providers, this approach offers something increasingly valuable in medicine: agency.
Clinical expertise should influence more than an individual patient encounter. We want clinicians who see opportunities, bring ideas forward and help shape better approaches to care. Our hospital innovation labs create another avenue to explore problems and develop solutions close to where care happens.
Our reach gives good ideas room to grow. Rochester Regional Health serves communities across Rochester, the Finger Lakes and along Lake Ontario to the St. Lawrence Region. Our physicians practice in urban, suburban and rural settings, bringing different experiences and perspectives into one health system.
Rochester itself has been turning ideas into industries for generations. Bausch + Lomb, Kodak and Xerox helped establish a legacy of optics, imaging, engineering and advanced manufacturing. The industries have evolved, but the region continues to build, solve problems and look ahead.
Healthcare belongs in Rochester’s next chapter.
We bring the same practical spirit to innovation. What matters is not the idea itself, but what happens when it improves a patient’s care, gives time back to a clinician or creates a better way to serve a community.
Healthcare needs new answers to workforce pressures, access, affordability and increasingly complex patient needs. We believe the people caring for patients should help develop them.
At Rochester Regional Health, you can practice medicine while helping improve how medicine is practiced.
You became a clinician to make a difference. Practice somewhere with room to make one.
